We had a lot of fun with this stylish couple on their downtown San Diego engagement shoot. Typically, when our brides and grooms ask about what to wear during an engagement photo shoot, we suggest a casual ensemble in addition to a fancy, “date night” outfit. But since Chris wears a three-piece suit nearly every day, and Julie is most comfortable in heels, they ditched the casual attire and dressed to impress!

Chris and Julie met while working at the Andaz Hotel (formerly the Ivy) in downtown San Diego. We thought we’d photograph the happy couple at the place where it all started! We headed down to the hotel on F and 7th, where we photographed them in the glamorous lobby, and on the rooftop pool deck at night! We then hit up the Omni Hotel, where we captured a few fun photos on the bridge that connects the hotel to Petco Park. We also made sure to get a nighttime kissing photo underneath the Gaslamp sign, which was a special request from the groom-to-be!

We had had a blast with Julie and Chris, and we can’t wait to photograph their wedding at the Bahia Resort this fall!  Make sure to scroll down to take a look at some of the photos we captured during this engagement shoot, and don’t forget to leave us a nice little comment below!

When Christina and Anthony came to us to photograph their engagement shoot, they knew they wanted to incorporate the beach and also have a little fun in the city. Because Encinitas has a good mix of beautiful beaches and an eclectic downtown area, we decided to drive up the coast!

We started at Moonlight Beach, where the happy couple popped open some champagne to let loose. Christina and Anthony seemed natural in front of the camera, just being silly and enjoying every minute of it. After the beach, we walked along the train tracks and headed up a few blocks from the water to Highway 101.

Next, we stopped in front of the unique Nixon headquarters building, which looks like a big brown barn. There, we met a laid-back couple coming from the Birkenstock store across the street, and they willingly acted as living props in our shoot. They were great sports!

Eventually, we made our way to Charlie’s Foreign Car shop for some neat photos with an old classic car. Then we made a final pit stop at Angelo’s Burgers, where Christina and Anthony’s goofy side came out as they drove an invisible car through the drive-thru!

We all had a blast, and captured so many unique scenes during this engagement shoot. We can’t wait for Christina and Anthony’s amazing wedding at The Grand Del Mar this September.  We hope you enjoy a few of our favorite finished images from our shoot!

One of our favorite downtown spots is the Gaslamp Quarter. As well as being the heart of San Diego, and a must-see for tourists, the Gaslamp Quarter is also full of engagement shoot opportunities! As you’ll see in Alessandra and Richard’s shoot, we love to incorporate the diverse backdrops and unique historical buildings of downtown San Diego.

Alessandra and Richard wanted to start off at a familiar place, the Tipsy Crow. This bar is owned by a friend of the couple, and it also happens to be San Diego’s longest-standing bar! The Main bar has been located on the corner of Fifth and F since before the days of prohibition. We were amazed by this place and the old-world details: the red velvet curtains, the rich leather sofas, the scarlet colored pool table, and an ultra-cool tufted green chair on the third floor. We had a lot of fun with this environment!

We later ventured out towards Horton Plaza to capture the city feel. We happened across one of the most amazing street musicians we have ever heard! The couple danced to the sounds of the saxophone, and we hung back and documented the scene.

Check out a few images from this neat engagement shoot, and don’t forget to let us know what you think!

We love all the photos from our engagement shoot. We had such a great time taking the photos. The photos were AMAZING with all the detail captured. Thank you again True Photography for such a wonderful day and experience. These photos wil serve as a great memory to look back on.

When you’re in sunny San Diego, the outdoors are perfectly warm for a January engagement photo shoot! For our fun shoot with Jessica and Miles, we decided to step right outside of our studio in Solana Beach, which is just a few feet away from the Pacific Ocean.

We hit the beach, where the happy couple walked barefoot in the sand. The bright, rust colored cliffs served as the perfect backdrop! We captured a series of playful photos of Jessica and Miles running towards each other, before embracing and spinning around in circles. We also ventured off into an open grassy field, where we captured some sweet and whimsical moments. Finally, we capped things off with a stroll along Cedros Avenue, past the Belly Up Tavern, and other local attractions.

This fun and free-spirited couple was full of smiles and energy. We look forward to photographing their big day in October!
