A Colorful Engagement Photo Shoot in Balboa Park

Melina and Kyle came to us wanting an engagement shoot that would be bright and fun. We thought that the Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park would be the perfect starting point to bring out their artistic flair. The location is brimming with color, from the multicolored patio tiles to the the vibrant accents along the surrounding cottages. Because both Kyle and Melina have design backgrounds, we couldn’t help but capture the creative pair standing by a sign for “ART CLASS”.

With a picturesque setting like Balboa Park, and our creative shooters, there are infinite opportunities for great photos! Whether it was roaming through the exotic cactus garden, climbing on large boulders, or reenacting Patrick Swazye’s lift in Dirty Dancing, Melina and Kyle were full of love and energy. We are so excited to be a part of their wedding at the beautiful Mt. Woodson Castle this October!

Engagement Photo Shoot in Sunny San Diego

When you’re in sunny San Diego, the outdoors are perfectly warm for a January engagement photo shoot! For our fun shoot with Jessica and Miles, we decided to step right outside of our studio in Solana Beach, which is just a few feet away from the Pacific Ocean.

We hit the beach, where the happy couple walked barefoot in the sand. The bright, rust colored cliffs served as the perfect backdrop! We captured a series of playful photos of Jessica and Miles running towards each other, before embracing and spinning around in circles. We also ventured off into an open grassy field, where we captured some sweet and whimsical moments. Finally, we capped things off with a stroll along Cedros Avenue, past the Belly Up Tavern, and other local attractions.

This fun and free-spirited couple was full of smiles and energy. We look forward to photographing their big day in October!

Laguna Beach Engagement Photo Shoot

Since winter is warm in Southern California, outdoor Laguna Beach was the perfect spot for Kelsie and Christopher’s engagement shoot. The shoot started down a back country trail, which was filled with bright green grass, boulders, and tons of golden brown leaves. As a way to add a little punch to the photos, this camera-friendly couple brought along a bundle of multi-colored balloons,which contrasted beautifully against the natural backdrop.

To show off this couple’s silly and intellectual side, we played around with black-rimmed glasses, and some favorite fantasy novels. The moment was spontaneous, fun, and full of personality. Then, as the sun set, we headed into downtown Laguna Beach for a date night out. The town was lit up with twinkle lights, which added a romantic flair to the nighttime shots. The scene looked as if it could have been right out of a Taylor Swift music video!

Underwater Engagement Shoot: Taking the Plunge

Meagan and Jim are very excited to “take the plunge” into marriage! So this daring couple decided to do something fitting for their Save-the-Date card engagement photo… they decked themselves out in full wedding ensembles, and got drenched!

With the help of a waterproof camera casing, and some creative maneuvering, our True team dove right in with them. The resulting photos were captured at the bottom of Jim’s parents’ large underground pool in Fallbrook, CA.

Desert Inspired Engagement Shoot in Joshua Tree

Amy and John chose to tie the knot at the Ultimate Skybox, on the top floor of the exquisite and contemporary Diamond View Tower, in the heart of downtown San Diego. You can’t get much cooler than that! So for their engagement photos, they wanted to mix it up and do something a little different.

Because this fun couple lives near Palm Springs, we headed out to Joshua Tree National Park. The desert was the perfect backdrop for their engagement shoot, including distinctive rock formations, and the twisted branches of native Joshua Trees.
