Allen and I met in Vegas! Yes, Vegas. I guess, what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas haha! We met at the club called Tao. The next day, we went on our first date official date. Allen was from San Jose and I was in San Diego, so we did the long distance thing for about a year, until Allen made the move to San Diego. A year later, Allen proposed to me.

It was a pretty easy choice when we decided to go with True Photography. Aaron was the first photographer to call us back, so being prompt was really important to us. Aaron was the only photographer we had spoken to, but because he was so friendly, easy going, seemed to know his stuff, and the photos were amazing, we signed the contract right away.

So many people were like, “Weren’t you guys tired of smiling and taking pictures?” But no, we didn’t even feel like it was any work at all. It was really fun, and a very easy experience. Michael and Eddie were both awesome shooters. Everything went so smooth and felt very organized that we were able to spend a lot of time with our guests.

From our bride, Wren:

Our Story: Scott was playing college baseball when a mutual friend of theirs on the Softball team introduced him to me. There was instant chemistry and we have been together ever since. That was in 2001! After graduating from UCSB, both Scott and I returned to Los Angeles to begin our careers. Scott, an avid sports fan, is an Associate Producer for Fox Sports Net. I worked for several years as Business Analyst and Project Manager before moving into Event Planning. Scott proposed to me on my 26th birthday. While opening birthday gifts, he slipped the ring box in the bottom of a new pair of Uggs. When I couldn’t get my foot into the Ugg, I reached into the boot and pulled out a ring box – to only look up and see Scott on one knee.

Since Scott and I both live in Los Angeles, it wasn’t always easy planning a wedding down South, especially when it came to finding the best vendors! After talking – and meeting – with several photographers in the San Diego area, both my Mom and I spoke with Aaron at True Photography. Aaron won us both over! He was so nice, yet very easy to talk to and never pushy. He accommodated all of our needs, and was always available to answer questions. Our photographer Michael even arranged our Engagement shoot over the Christmas/New Year holiday! The wedding was amazing, the shots that Michael and Janice captured are unbelievable! Could not have asked for more! Scott and I feel so lucky that we had such wonderful Vendors, we had a perfect day!

How our friendship began….

Gardening brought us together. We both worked for a non-profit called the San Francisco League of Urban Gardners (SLUG), though at different times. On a cloudy Saturday afternoon in June 2003, Amy was tending one of the gardens used for educational purposes. Amy looked up to find Simon standing next to the fence covered in pink passion flowers. Conversation began. Since Amy worked for SLUG’s education department and Simon used to, he would drop by the office to visit with friends and Amy and Simon’s friendship began to take hold. Mutually intrigued, phone numbers were exchanged and plans were made to hang out at a local restaurant and Golden Gate Park. Summer turned to fall and fall to winter and our friendship grew deeper.

More than friendship….

Sitting on Amy’s desk that Valentine’s Day was a dozen roses and card that simply said “Happy Valentine’s Day”.
Amy: Who is my mystery admirer, I thought? Though I suspected it was Simon. On a run through Gold Gate Park with Simon and a friend, I wondered aloud, ‘I was given a dozen roses today but no one signed the card? Any ideas?’
Simon: Um, were they red roses?
Amy: Yep
Simon: “Oh, they’re from me, but there must have been a mistake at the flower shop because I asked them to send you a bouquet of flowers, he must of thought I meant roses.”
I was really scared because I realized red roses were a sign for love. I was concerned I might mess up our friendship. Yet the mistake that was made by the flower shop was really a blessing because we started to look at each other in a different way.
Amy: But really, I had already started to like Simon, he just didn’t know it yet.

Once we spoke with Aaron at True photography, we knew our decision had been made. He listened to what we were looking for in a photographer, chose a photographer from their team to match our style, made us feel at ease and made the whole process effortless.  Our photographers, Bob and Billie had an endless stream of ideas and they made us feel relaxed. Thank you for capturing the special moments of our wedding day and turning them into a storybook of memories that will always bring us joy.

From our bride, Aimee:

Choosing True Photography to photograph our wedding was an easy decision. Aaron was very gracious, both on the phone and when we met with him in person. During our initial meeting, we were very impressed with the different styles of photography and the attention to detail they gave to each selected photo on current albums they were working on for other couples. All of our high hopes and expectations were met in the engagement shoot and wedding photography.

Mike made us feel really comfortable during the engagement shoot. It was a lot of fun taking photos in Solana Beach and getting to know Mike.

On our wedding day, Mike and Mario showed up promptly and took an incredible array of photos of both wedding parties, as well as candid shots that we really love. The day goes by so fast and it’s great to have photos of the little moments that made it so special! We were both really pleased with the ceremony and reception photos. The quality of the finished photos was awesome. I still can’t believe how many great detail shots there are and how many wonderful moments they captured. The mix of colors and textures they use add a unique element to the photographs. Choosing from so many photos felt overwhelming, but True Photography Weddings really works as a team to help you tell your wedding day story. It was such an enjoyable process and we are both really thankful that we were in such great hands with Aaron, Mike, Mario, April and Lisa.

Our wedding coordinator, Lisa Moon (Lisa Moon Events), was incredible! She is one of the most kind, professional, and dedicated people I have ever met. Her team even dressed to coordinate with our wedding colors – that’s how much thought she puts into every detail of your wedding day!

Karla Flores from Elegant by Design did an absolutely amazing job with our flowers. She worked with us on our budget and really helped us come up with a classic and memorable look for our ceremony and reception. She also put together an incredible candy station (Thanks Mike and Mario for taking a photo of it because that candy disappeared fast

I especially heart Vivian from Paper Girl Custom Invitations. She helped us design and print beautiful invitations, programs, name cards, and menus. She also helped us deal with all of the chaos that goes on with weddings. Her advice, on paper and otherwise was priceless!
